Odette Marais
While focussing on the formalities of the paint on the canvas, Odette's work primarily explores atmosphere and she works to define a certain space. Her intention is to express in two dimensions, the transience or weight of a moment through the subjective interpretation of simple objects. The connections between the environment that these objects find themselves in and their source of illumination, creates a play in time and space. "I would like to believe that the subjects in my paintings communicate an energy, a shimmer, a drama or a peace."
