David Riding
David Riding is an illustrator, painter and sculptor. He worked for many years in advertising agencies and design studios and finally became a freelance illustrator in Cape Town. Born in a remote part of Zimbabwe, his family later moved to Durban South Africa where he attended art School.
David's work is reflective of his interaction with the natural world that surrounded him during his childhood. Styled images form a large part of his iconography. His subjects are characteristically expressive, sometimes even anthropomorphic, and feature a strong element of humour. The characters are endearing, even mischievous. His illustrative style is a result of his formal training in Graphic Design.
