"I am a painter and 'drawer'. I work in oils and mixed media respectively. My paintings begin in drawings, and these begin in a physical place. Most of my current works do not originate from the familiar but 'found' places, places I have travelled to, and many of these on foot. And often I am drawing places where things meet; looking at junctions and junctures, and the places where the edges of activities, places or biomes meet - the railroad and the sea, the clearing at the edge of a forest and this leads to a different kind of composition, and the opportunity to make a dynamic space with planar elements. I like the idea of one's eyes metaphorically walking into the canvas, and taking the viewer on a journey."
