Gordon Williams

Gordon Williams is a self-taught artist but acknowledges the powerful impact that his high school art teacher, Henry Symonds, had on his future career. In 2012, Williams devoted himself to painting full-time and he describes how creativity allows for “a momentary escape from reality”.

His Swartland, plein air landscapes and colourful vivid still life paintings are a unique combination of Expressionism and Impressionism and exude raw energy and movement.

Working in his studio or en plein air, Williams uses only white and the three process printing colours, (magenta, cyan & yellow) to create his pallet, at times adding charcoal to the painting.

To date, Williams has had ten solo exhibitions and been included in a further seven group exhibitions - his paintings hang in private collections across the world.
