Neil Franks

Neil Franks was born in 1970, trained and works as an architect in a full-time practice. He started painting in the Val Green Art Space for a number of years, working predominantly in oil, with landscapes as his preferred subject. The earlier landscape works, whilst more realistic in execution, are nonetheless rooted in his memories of landscape scenes which have provoked a strong emotional response. This has fuelled an interest in exploring abstract landscape, with colour, form and texture being more important than the literal representation of the subject landscape.
